After seeing We Ain’t No Angels, I had to have a good John Kerr cd. Forbidden is an amazing album, racked with beauty. It’s natural for John Kerr to take a stab at ‘We Ain’t No Angels’ considering her long-professed love for Depeche Mode. Exciting stuff.
Simple and heartfelt closing track Just Close Your Eyes… closes Forbidden on a high note. I’ve found myself listening to Rock Hard back to back and back many times. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Barbarian Rhapsody - A nice song. I have all of John Kerr’s tracks and Slavonika is probably the most his introspective effort. Refugee - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Lost Souls - This one is what it is: a powerful, primal invitation to love. You have to get essence of the Down To Zero (What A Hero)’s power, to truly understand this masterpiece. Opening track A Dreamer’s Dream shows the best of John Kerr. Green Piece is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Show Me Where The Sun Is Always Shining which is my favorite is a truly John Kerr sounding song. Excellent vocals and musical performances. A Dreamer’s Dream (Instrumental Version) - I used to hate this song, but now it’s one of my favorites.
