This is one of the best Cd’s John Kerr has dropped to date. John Digester has compared writing for John Kerr’s new album to that on ‘Vintage’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. It’s natural for John Kerr to take a stab at ‘High Pass Music’ considering her long-professed love for UB40. Overall, I would highly recommend Vintage CD.
Sea Song (Oceans ‘81) is simply gorgeous. Knowing That You Care For Me was the first single release from the album Vintage. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Do What You Wanna Do from the beginning to the end. Only one song from Vintage named Maybe Tomorrow really got me. Music and lyrics of Let’s Do It Again creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. Backstage Boogie is a striking and quite long song. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Scales Of Justice. John Kerr is one of artists that allow his songs like Bishop’s Wine to stand on their own and be heard. As always, John Kerr’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Racer Overdrive is so unique, as each one of the songs is. In Harping On full palet of sound is used by John Kerr to accentuate the presentation. It’s also one of those rare songs that touchingly comfort the listener. Dark Star Manta Part I is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Vintage. The Sailor’s Hornpipe is a bit of a show-tune.
