On Plain Capers: Morris Dance Tunes From the Cotswolds album, John Kirkpatrick have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. When you buy a John Kirkpatrick album, you know exactly what you’re getting! While no new John Kirkpatrick album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1996 tour in Africa. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about John Kirkpatrick ever.
Hammersmith Flyover is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Black Jack / Old Black Joe / Old Black Joe presents the amazing mix of instruments on Plain Capers: Morris Dance Tunes From the Cotswolds. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Plain Capers: Morris Dance Tunes From the Cotswolds. I hope to keep hearing John Kirkpatrick works for a long time to come. Bobby and Joan / Bobbing-A-Joe is really the reason why I recommend buying Plain Capers: Morris Dance Tunes From the Cotswolds. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Sweet Jenny Jones / Sherborne Jig / Sherborne Jig - I like this one. I find myself hearing bits of Lumps of Plum Pudding here and there throughout my waking hours. Highland Mary is just simply stunning. John Kirkpatrick sings Wheatley Processional in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. This is one of those songs that musicians strive to write and create. All of songs on Plain Capers: Morris Dance Tunes From the Cotswolds and have something to say letting alone Constant Billy.
