It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Johnny Dyer featuring Rick Hol energies, virtually a rebirth. This fifteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Johnny Dyer featuring Rick Hol has. Self-described as Blues with lots of words, Johnny Dyer featuring Rick Hol comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Listen Up is not something you should pass up.
BBQ At J.D.’s very upbeat. I hope to keep hearing Johnny Dyer featuring Rick Hol works for a long time to come. Drifting Blues is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Strong percussion and poignant lyrics of this track really gets under your skin. Hands Off is absolutely incredible. Lend Me My Train Fare is astounding. Listen Up gives good insight into the truths. Little Girl Won’t Quit is a good listen every once in a while. Lookout Holmes is possibly the best song Johnny Dyer featuring Rick Hol has come up. Mojo Boogie is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. On Your Rocker is the albums biggest surprise. Pretty Thing is the astounding blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. Stranded In St. Louis to me is the best you can get from Johnny Dyer featuring Rick Hol.
