Self-described as Easy Listening with lots of words, Jon Mark comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. The Standing Stones of Callanish carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Jon Mark’s debut, ‘The Standing Stones of Callanish’, does not fit easily into one genre. This is one of Jon Mark best albums
I find myself hearing bits of Blessed Land here and there throughout my waking hours. The Eye Of The Hawk is exquisite work of Jon Mark. After you’ve listened to Mist On The Morning Hills, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. Don’t judge The Standing Stones Of Callanish on the first listening. The Raven In The Oak Tree is absolutely incredible. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in The Standing Stones of Callanish. This song stands out greatly from the others. In Autumn Leaves Fall, One By One Jon Mark spins a tale you want to hear to the end. A Winter’s Story By The Firelight is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. In The Leaving it becomes nowhere more obvious that Jon Mark has yet to define own style. From the moment you listen to Soft Light. Still Water you’re hooked. Journey Across The Crystal Sea is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. You can find feelings on this piece of art.
