Ilha Brasil is an amazing album, racked with beauty.After debuting at No. 1 last week, Joyce’s album Ilha Brasil falls to No. 2 with 106,000, a sales slide of 93%. This fifteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Joyce has. Joyce is one of my favourite bands of all time.
Havana-Me marked the continuation of Joyce in style evolution. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. The sound in Rodando a Baiana is really warm and Joyce’s signature voice is still very much present. Atazz can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what Joyce is all about. Sexy Sia sets the tone for the entire album. Receita de Samba - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. When I listen to Deus E O Diabo (Na DanO Bai in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Paraiso good vocals. Overall a nice softer song. FeijCom Arroz is simple, dignified and effective, Joyce refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. One listen to the sheer beauty of Os was all I needed. Viola de Prata defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. I like Ant/Ilha Brasil because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming.
