It has been two years Junie’ last studio CD, “The Westbound Years” which won Array Academy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. It’s natural for Junie to take a stab at ‘Junie’ considering her long-professed love for Gridlok. On The Westbound Years album, Junie have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. I wish that “The Westbound Years” album was instrumental.
Tight Rope as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Walt’s Third Trip - I just love it. Place the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Nice and different song. Johnny Carson Samba - Junie first major hit. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. Not as Good as You Should is the song that really did it for me. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. No Junie song has come close to capturing my attention as Freeze did. Super J to me is the best you can get from Junie. Granny’s Funky Rolls Royce is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Junie III is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. In Surrender you won’t find any flashy solos. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. Super Groupie is probably the most interesting track on The Westbound Years. Put Suzie Thundertussy into car stereo for your highway driving Spirit rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Junie’s Ultimate Departure [#] is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses.
