For older fans Sapphire will put a massive smile accross your face. nine years ago, Keiko Matsui briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Bouncing Bougainvillea”. Stanley Donwood has compared writing for Keiko Matsui’s new album to that on ‘Sapphire’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
Bouncing Bougainvillea is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. Sonora is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Don’t Turn On The Light is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. I loved Mission the first time I heard it. Garden is astounding. Tears From The Sun (4:17) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Spanish Galleon is really a nice song to relax and listen too. This track is clearly meant to showcase Keiko Matsui’s vocal abilities. Sapphire is perfect. The River (Piano Solo Version) is excellent work of Keiko Matsui. Longing (Piano Solo Version) is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. First time I heard Sapphire (Piano Solo Version) was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.
