Lead single “Satin Doll” and “Warm Valley” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. After seeing Satin Doll, I had to have a good Kenny Burrell cd. I am not a real Jazz music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Lotus Blossom’ really is amazing. IT makes me wanna dance!
Kenny Burrell breathes new life into the music in Warm Valley. There Will Never Be Another You as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. The first time I listened to Lotus Blossom I was struck by its perfect sound. If You Could See Me Now is just simply stunning. Night Has a Thousand Eyes is one of the coolest songs Kenny Burrell has ever recorded. Only one song from Lotus Blossom named I Don’t Stand a Ghost of a Chance With You really got me. If you are a Kenny Burrell fan, you will love Minha (All Mine). For Once in My Life is the more seemingly obscure song on Lotus Blossom that bear up best to repeated listening. Couplet: Once Upon a Summertime/When the World Was Young is a exquisite sing-along. I’m Falling for You - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Kenny Burrell. They Can’t Take That Away from Me is a astounding song and it grows on you. Old Folks is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction.
