On Baby I’m back album, Kool and the Gang have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Self-described as Jazz: Funk with lots of words, Kool and the Gang comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Since Kool and the Gang last CD (Baby I’m back) on Sparrow Records back in 1993, I have felt a massive void in my life. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
From the moment you listen to Love Thing you’re hooked. Next 2 U is a gorgeous song and it grows on you. The song Dreamin’ ending is my favorite… so catchy! I listened to the opening track You’ve Got The Flavor and liked it a lot. Prove My Love is a bit of a show-tune. Some Kind Of Woman - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. I loved I Wanna Know the first time I heard it. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Feel The Need the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Baby I’m Back (Acapiano) is simple, dignified and effective, Kool and the Gang refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more.
