This five-song debut EP shows the promise that Laibach has. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Laibach energies, virtually a rebirth. Lead single “The Final Countdown (7” Euro Mix)” and “The Final Countdown (12” Mark Stent Alternate Mix)” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
The Final Countdown (12” Mark Stent Alternate Mix) as a highlight of The Final Countdown (Ep) contains a ton of exquisite melodies. After you’ve listened to The Final Countdown (Juno Reactor Version), most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. The Final Countdown (Fortran 5 Version Ii) is perfect and different song.
