‘Losers, Kings, and Things We Don’t Understand’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. This disc has all of the essential Less Than Jake classics. Since completing 1995’s ‘Soundman / Soundcheck’, Less Than Jake fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Enjoy the show.
The first time I listened to 24 Hours In Paramus I was struck by its astounding sound. Outside of the singles, my favorite song on Losers, Kings, and Things We Don’t Understand is Whipping Boy. Time and A Half is a strong cut, one of many. Econolodged - This one is lively and fun. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. I listened to the opening track Where The Hell Is Mike Sinkovich and liked it a lot. Nice and different song. Laverne and Shirley - A strong beat. Lyrics of Fucked are precise and evocative. 867-5309 (Jenny) - Less Than Jake first major hit. Dukes Of Hazzard defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Voice of Less Than Jake in Shotgun is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. I find myself hearing bits of Down In The Mission here and there throughout my waking hours. Charming song, great melody. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Losers, Kings, and Things We Don’t Understand. In Lucky Day Less Than Jake spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Who Holds The Power Ring is Less Than Jake’s best work in years. Wish Pig had me crying as I was able to relate so well. Awkward Age has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. This song may be the most meaningful.
