Ligeti - Works for Piano: Etudes, Musica Ricercata isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. After seeing Piano Etudes Book 1 - I. Desordre, I had to have a good Ligeti, Gyorgy cd. When you buy a Ligeti, Gyorgy album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Ligeti - Works for Piano: Etudes, Musica Ricercata.
Piano Etudes Book 1 - II. Cordes a vide has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. Still going through Ligeti - Works for Piano: Etudes, Musica Ricercata and coming to appreciate Piano Etudes Book 1 - III. Touches Bloquees more and more with every listen. Piano Etudes Book 1 - IV. Fanfares is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. Once Piano Etudes Book 1 - V. Arc-En-Ciel gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Piano Etudes Book 1 - VI. Automne a Varsovie is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Piano Etudes Book 2 - I. Galamb Borong (1988) is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Ligeti, Gyorgy released so far. Piano Etudes Book 2 - II. Fem (1989) is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. This is one hell of a track. Piano Etudes Book 2 - IV. Der Zauberlehrling (1994) is perfect. Piano Etudes Book 2 - V. En Suspens (1994) - My least favorite song on this album. In Piano Etudes Book 2 - VI. Entrelacs (1993) the music gets its power. Piano Etudes Book 2 - VII. L’escalier Du Diable (1993) hits the heart. Piano Etudes Book 2 - VIII. Coloana Infinita (1993) is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Ligeti, Gyorgy ever produced. Musica Ricercata - I. Sostenuto - Misurato - Prestissimo is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. I listened to the opening track Musica Ricercata - II. Mesto, Rigido E Cerimoniale and liked it a lot. Musica Ricercata - III. Allegro Con Spirito is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Ligeti, Gyorgy. Musica Ricercata - V. Rubato. Lamentoso is another strong production from Ligeti, Gyorgy. Voice of Ligeti, Gyorgy in Musica Ricercata - VI. Allegro Molto Capriccioso is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Musica Ricercata - VII. Catabile, Molta Legato without a doubt is the standout song of Ligeti - Works for Piano: Etudes, Musica Ricercata. Musica Ricercata - VIII. Vivace, Energico is a song to enjoy for years to come. Nice and different song. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Musica Ricercata - XI. (Ormaggio A Girolamo Frescobaldi) Andante Misurato E Tranquillo was the first single release from the album Ligeti - Works for Piano: Etudes, Musica Ricercata. Piano Etudes Book 3 - XV. White On White (1995) gets you up and jumping.
