On Mundus Subterraneus album, Lightwave have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. There is no doubt that Lightwave has talent. Since completing 1995’s ‘De Motu Pendulorum’, Lightwave fulfilled their contract with Mute Records and where under no obligation to release another album. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Lightwave ever.
Cabinet De Curiosites 1 is such a perfect and optimistic song that things can get just better. Cabinet De Curiosites 2 great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Nekyomanteia is a great opener for Mundus Subterraneus. Sonnensturme is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. In Towards The Abyss Lightwave is at his best. Glissement D’ame is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Mundus Subterraneus have ended. Roma Barocca is pretty funky and mellow. First time I heard Ascension was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.Mapping The Earth actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Lightwave’s face.
