It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Lisa Stansfield energies, virtually a rebirth. Since completing 1996’s ‘Never Gonna Fall’, Lisa Stansfield fulfilled their contract with Columbia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Lisa Stansfield was a flawless and timeless record. Not surprising from Lisa Stansfield and Lisa Stansfield together. Lisa Stansfield touched my soul like nothing else.
The Real Thing is worth the money. I’m Leavin’ rocked my world when I popped it into my car stereo. Suzanne is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Voice of Lisa Stansfield in Never, Never Gonna Give You Up is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Don’t Cry For Me is one of the more up-tempo songs on Lisa Stansfield. Blew our minds when we first heard The Line. The Very Thought Of You stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. You Know How To Love Me is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. I Cried My Last Tear Last Night is probably the most interesting track on Lisa Stansfield. Honest (4:54) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Get Lisa Stansfield and turn on Somewhere In Time if you are going to sip your wine late at night. Once Got Me Missing You gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. This track makes my mind whirl and vibrate with flowing energy. Only one song from Lisa Stansfield named The Real Thing (Touch Mix) really got me. People Hold On (Bootleg Mix) is a song to enjoy for years to come.
