After seeing 6′1”, I had to have a good Liz Phair cd. This is one of the best Cd’s Liz Phair has dropped to date. I am not a real Indie music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Exile In Guyville’ really is amazing. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
This track is full of harmonies and gets Exile In Guyville off to a relaxing start. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Exile In Guyville. When listening to Dance Of The Seven Veils, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Some of the arrangements found on Exile In Guyville are surprisingly edgy. I like Soap Star Joe because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Explain It To Me is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Exile In Guyville have ended. Canary is another favourite of mine. Song Mesmerizing is actually a funny song. Fuck and Run - I like this one. Girls! Girls! Girls! gets you up and jumping. As always, Liz Phair’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. Shatter - A nice song. Flower is the first taste of the new album. Johnny Sunshine is a very catchy tune. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Stratford-On-Guy is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Don’t judge Strange Loop on the first listening.
