Since completing 1995’s ‘A Presence In The Woods’, Lycia fulfilled their contract with EMI Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Lycia on ‘A Presence In The Woods’. The Burning Circle and Then Dust is an amazing album, racked with beauty.This album is in perfect progression from Lycia!
When I listen to Wandering Soul in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Although The Dust Settles (Part 1) is very melodic it is far from sad. Sleepless is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Lycia sings his heart out in The Dust Settles (Part 2). It’s such an underrated song. Lycia rocks harder than ever with The Dust Settles (Part 3). In Pray the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. Song The Better Things To Come is actually a funny song. On The Horizon - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. I like to sing along with Where Has All The Time Gone, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time. Anywhere But Home is beautiful, yet underrated track. Lycia sings In The Fire and Flames in such a comforting, confident voice that you can’t help but be moved. This track is just fantastic from start to finish. Album opener The Last Day is a bright, upbeat ditty. This track is nearly perfect if not perfect. This is the most melodic ambitious and satisfying track in The Burning Circle and Then Dust. This song may be the most meaningful. The sound of August (Part 2) is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. I believe Resigned is one of the most excellent, heartfelt songs ever written. Surrender without a doubt is the standout song of The Burning Circle and Then Dust. These Memories Pass sets the tone for the entire album. You can find feelings on this piece of art. In The New Day the music gets its power.
