This is one of the best Cd’s Lydie Auvray has dropped to date. Lydie Auvray’s debut, ‘Octavons’, does not fit easily into one genre. After seeing Indiscretion, I had to have a good Lydie Auvray cd. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
This is probably my favorite song on the album. Da Haste, Hilde! is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. Although I prefer the faster paced music, I think Adax Merengue is my favorite song on Octavons. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Lydie Auvray. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Blew our minds when we first heard Deauville. I listened to the opening track Virage and liked it a lot. Music of Kwenkwe is gentle, never overbearing. J’ai Reve is the more seemingly obscure song on Octavons that bear up best to repeated listening. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Octavons. Song Je Ne Regrette Rien is actually a funny song. I like to sing along with J’ai Reve (Instr.), though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. This track, in particular, has the kind of undeniably catchy flavor. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Luna.
