On Second Spring album, Matthews’ Southern Comfort have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Since completing 1996’s ‘Southern Comfort’, Matthews’ Southern Comfort fulfilled their contract with Savoy Records and where under no obligation to release another album. There were many famous songs of Matthews’ Southern Comfort available. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
Something In The Way She Moves is astounding. D’Arcy Farrow is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. From the moment you listen to Even As you’re hooked. In Blood Red Roses you won’t find any flashy solos. Don’t judge The Tale Of The Trial on the first listening. Jinkson Johnson is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Moses In The Sunshine defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Ballad Of Obray Ramsey is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after Second Spring have ended.
