It has been nine years Maynard Ferguson’ last studio CD, “This Is Jazz, Vol. 16″ which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Maynard Ferguson’s album This Is Jazz, Vol. 16 falls to No. 2 with 969,000, a sales slide of 83%. This Is Jazz, Vol. 16 is an amazing album, racked with beauty.If I may, I suggest “Birdland”. That one song is amazing!
This track is full of harmonies and gets This Is Jazz, Vol. 16 off to a relaxing start. The first time I listened to MacArthur Park I was struck by its excellent sound. The Fox Hunt is astounding song though, very addictive. The Cheshire Cat Walk motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. ‘Round Midnight is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade. Best song on the album, love it. Gonna Fly Now (Theme From ‘Rocky’) without a doubt is the standout song of This Is Jazz, Vol. 16.
