Since Melvins last CD (Prick) on Virgin Records back in 1994, I have felt a massive void in my life. ‘Prick’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. For older fans Prick will put a massive smile accross your face. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
Rickets is the more seemingly obscure song on Prick that bear up best to repeated listening. I find myself hearing bits of Pick It N’ Flick It here and there throughout my waking hours. The song feels complete. Chief Ten Beers has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. The sound of Underground is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Chalk People has a fun tempo. This song is dynamic and dramatic. In Pure Digital Silence Melvins spins a tale you want to hear to the end. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Roll Another One is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations.
