eight years ago, Merle Haggard briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Good Times”. Self-described as Country with lots of words, Merle Haggard comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. When you buy a Merle Haggard album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Untamed Hawk CD4 is the best essence of Merle Haggard.
Good Times - A nice song. No Merle Haggard song has come close to capturing my attention as News Break did. My Past Is Present - arguably the best track on Untamed Hawk CD4 album. Mom And Dad’s Waltz (2:55) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! I listened to the opening track My Ramona and liked it a lot. Only one song from Untamed Hawk CD4 named Because You Can’t Be Mine really got me. I hope to keep hearing Merle Haggard works for a long time to come. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Merle Haggard. There is exquisite mix of music in Money Tree. You can find feelings on this piece of art. The Legend Of Bonnie And Clyde is one of the more up-tempo songs on Untamed Hawk CD4. I Starting Loving You Again is a strong cut, one of many. Love Has A Mind Of Its Own still maintains something of a specific flourish. Fool’s Castle motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Lyrics of Is This The Beginning Of The End are precise and evocative. The Sunny Side Of My Life is an underrated song: I like its lyrics and melody a lot. The sound of Run ‘Em Off is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. It’s very catchy and easy to get into which is what you want in a song. You’ll Never Love Me Now is the albums biggest surprise. I was truly moved when I heard Mama Tried. In The Good Old Days (When Times Were Bad) is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Little Ole Wine Drinker Me makes a person feel excellent. Opening track Teach Me To shows the best of Merle Haggard. One of the songs that always stick in my mind is Lookin’ For My Mind (Takes 1-2) because the melody in the chorus is so good. Lookin’ For My Mind (Takes 3-5) the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Lookin’ For My Mind (Take 6) is perfect.
