Since Muddy Waters last CD (The Complete Plantation Recordings) on SixSteps records back in 1993, I have felt a massive void in my life. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Muddy Waters energies, virtually a rebirth. After debuting at No. 1 last week, Muddy Waters’s album The Complete Plantation Recordings falls to No. 2 with 540,000, a sales slide of 67%. I greatly enjoyed this CD.
Interview 1 is the album’s biggest hit, I think. I can’t stop humming along I Be’s Troubled. Vocals of Muddy Waters in Interview 2 really capture me and are set perfectly to the rhythm. Burr Clover Farm Blues marked the continuation of Muddy Waters in style evolution. When listening to Interview 3, it gives me such an energy rush it’s unbelievable. Some call Ramblin’ Kid Blues from The Complete Plantation Recordings as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Ramblin’ Kid Blues is one of the more up-tempo songs on The Complete Plantation Recordings. Rasalie is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Joe Turner - This is a very lively song. I like to sing along with Pearlie May Blues, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. In Take a Walk With Me the music gets its power. Burr Clover Blues is a song that will not reduce you to tears but leave you thinking long after The Complete Plantation Recordings have ended. Interview 4 is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. I Be Bound To Write To You good vocals. I Be Bound To Write To You is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. You’re Gonna Miss Me When I m Gone as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. You Got To Take Sick And is flawed, nonetheless pretty good song. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. I find myself hearing bits of Country Blues here and there throughout my waking hours. You re Gonna Miss Me When I m Gone is one of these floating songs. 32-20 Blues is the albums lead single as well as biggest hit.
