There is so much to love about Natalie Cole, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. After seeing Jingle Bells, I had to have a good Natalie Cole cd. ‘Holly and Ivy’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is Caroling, Caroling
Caroling, Caroling is nothing but pure genius. The First Noel is the amazing blend of moody yet optimistic tunes. No More Blue Christmas’ has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. Christmas Medley: Jingle Bell Rock/Winter Wonderland/Little Drummer Boy/I’ll Be Home For Christmas - A classic Natalie Cole track. Merry Christmas Baby - For me, this is the best of the album. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. The Little Boy That Santa Claus Forgot is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Listening to A Song For Christmas you can hear that Natalie Cole has still amazing chemistry with band members. Silent Night is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. The Christmas Song (Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire) is another favourite of mine. I believe The Holly & The Ivy is one of the most cool, heartfelt songs ever written.
