It’s natural for Nirvana to take a stab at ‘About A Girl’ considering her long-professed love for Paul Oakenfold. Since completing 1993’s ‘About A Girl’, Nirvana fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. On Come As You Are album, Nirvana have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Exciting stuff.
Come As You Are is a great opener for Come As You Are. Dumb is absolutely incredible. Man Who Sold The World - A catchy, upbeat tune. Polly is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Some of the arrangements found on Come As You Are are surprisingly edgy. Nirvana has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. No Nirvana song has come close to capturing my attention as Lake Of Fire did. When I listen to All Apologies in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Where Did You Sleep Last Night pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. Radio Friendly Unit Shifter is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Drain You one of the best in my collection. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. Serve The Servants is a song to enjoy for years to come. Rape Me is a great song to contemplate the modern music and what it really is all about. Nirvana breathes new life into the music in Heart-Shaped Box. Pennyroyal Tea - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Scentless Apprentice the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe.
