While no new Nirvana album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1993 tour in Asia. Now signed to Nirvana’s ForeFront Records, the title track from second album “New Year’s Eve 93″ leads Nirvana’s back-to-school campaign. New Year’s Eve 93 carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Last Hot Album by Nirvana
Drain You - My least favorite song on this album. Breed is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Nirvana released so far. Serve The Servants is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Smells Like Teen Spirit defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Sliver is a very catchy tune. Simple and heartfelt closing track Dumb closes New Year’s Eve 93 on a high note. In Bloom (4:19) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. I listened to the opening track About A Girl and liked it a lot. This song may be the most meaningful. Pennyroyal Tea is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. School is one of the best records ever. I’ve found myself listening to Polly back to back and back many times. Frances Farmer Will Have Her R is just simply stunning. Milk It is sonically very melodic with nice haunting verses. I can’t stop humming along Rape Me. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. Encore Break has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. This song could easily nestle itself onto the world top playlists. Where Did You Sleep Last Night is the song that really did it for me. I like the idea behind The Man Who Sold The World. After you’ve listened to All Apologies, most everything else can’t hold up and is second rate. What sets Scentless Apprentice apart is Nirvana’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Heart Shaped Box (5:25) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! Blew very upbeat. Countdown to 1994 is a fine track on any terms.
