This is the first studio album from Outkast since bad diagnosis in 1996. Self-described as Hip-Hop with lots of words, Outkast comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Lead single “You May Die (Intro)” and “Two Dope Boyz (In A Cadillac)” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. ATLiens constantly brilliant.
This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. ATLiens - This is a very lively song. A great put together song. Jazzy Belle defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. Outkast emotions are reflected through Elevators (Me and You). After about the third Ova Da Wudz listen through, I began to believe this song is Outkast’s essence. Babylon is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Wailin’ - Okay, I just talked about depth. Mainstream is a bit different from Outkast stereotypical stuff. Decatur Psalm is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. Millennium the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. In E.T. (Extratrrestrial) you won’t find any flashy solos. I can’t stop humming along 13th Floor / Growing Old. Nice and different song.
