Since completing 1994’s ‘Coffee Thoughts’, Papa Roach fulfilled their contract with Blue Note Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Potatoes For Christmas isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. Lead single “Coffee Thoughts” and “Mama’s Dress” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. I love this album so much, i’ve been crazy about Papa Roach ever.
The first time I listened to Mama’s Dress I was struck by its marvelous sound. Once Lenny’s gets in your head, it will NEVER leave. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Cheez-Z-Fux - Okay, I just talked about depth. Such hits like I Love Babies will leave you hooked. I listened to the opening track Dendrilopis and liked it a lot.
