eleven years ago, Peter Green briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “The Clown”. Since Peter Green last CD (Bandit) on Columbia Records back in 1996, I have felt a massive void in my life. Lead single “Proud Into” and “The Clown” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Lots of variety between tracks. My favorite is The Clown
The Clown catches attention immediately, In In the Skies Peter Green spins a tale you want to hear to the end. The beautiful sound of this track makes you want to close your eyes and sway away with the music. Blew our minds when we first heard Bandit. Voice and instruments in Promised Land complement each other. I can’t stop humming along Last Train To San Antone. A great put together song. Momma Don’t Cha Cry defines beauty, yet is as unforgiving as an astringent stone. One Woman Love is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. Tribal Dance is one of the best records ever. Music and lyrics of Just For You creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. It’s a great pleasure to listen to Black Woman from the beginning to the end. The sound in Funky Jam is really warm and Peter Green’s signature voice is still very much present.
