This disc has all of the essential Prince classics. This -song debut EP shows the promise that Prince has. On The Gold Experience album, Prince have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. The Gold Experience is the best essence of Prince.
So much energy, so exciting a sound. In this song fans will recognize the unique vocals of Prince. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. We March is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Npg Operator (2) to me is the best you can get from Prince. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with The Most Beautiful Girl In The World. The sound of Dolphin is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Npg Operator (3) is a strong cut, one of many. In Now the music gets its power. Npg Operator (4) is the more seemingly obscure song on The Gold Experience that bear up best to repeated listening. 319 - A nice song. Npg Operator (5) is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Prince ever produced. Only one song from The Gold Experience named Shy really got me. Billy Jack Bitch is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. The opening track I Hate U is very much like you would expect from other albums. Prince allows each song to breathe and flourish. Gold actually sounds so joyous, that you can practically see a smile on Prince’s face.
