While no new Putumayo album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1995 tour in Australia. On Best of Folk Music album, Putumayo have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. There were many famous songs of Putumayo available. Unappreciated gift to Folk
Irresistible Targets - John Stewart is one of the more up-tempo songs on Best of Folk Music. Hammer and a Nail - Indigo Girls has to be one of the most beautiful tracks on the entire album. The first time I listened to Ireland - Greg Trooper I was struck by its excellent sound. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Know When to Move - John McCutcheon good vocals. Putumayo is hitting on all cylinders in Play Me Backwards - Joan Baez. Turning Away - Dougie MacLean is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Out in the Country - Kristen Hall is a medium tempo tune. Opening track Who Woulda Thunk It - Greg Brown shows the best of Putumayo. You can find feelings on this piece of art. B.B. King Was Wrong - John Gorka make listening to Putumayo like being in some sort of time warp. My Father’s Shoes - Cliff Eberhardt have really caught my ear and imagination.
