Lead single “Rite Of Passage” and “Singing Land” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. For older fans The Dougie MacLean Collection will put a massive smile accross your face. thirteen years ago, Putumayo briefly lived up to their terrific name, with an insanely addictive hit single called “Singing Land”. I wish that “The Dougie MacLean Collection” album was instrumental.
Singing Land is probably the most interesting track on The Dougie MacLean Collection. I came to like Solid Ground. Broken Wings (4:30) Not one of my favorites, but for a lot of people this is one of their best songs. Marching Mystery is just a great song and one well worth taking the time to give it a good listen. Putumayo sings his heart out in The Search. Turning Away one is one of the better boring ones. Caledonia to me is the best you can get from Putumayo. I believe Ready For The Storm is one of the most astounding, heartfelt songs ever written. Trail Of The Survivor - A classic Putumayo track. This song is very powerful, its catchy melody will have you singing along in no time.
