After debuting at No. 1 last week, Rachid Taha’s album Ole Ole falls to No. 2 with 544,000, a sales slide of 72%. Self-described as Ethnic with lots of words, Rachid Taha comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Rachid Taha energies, virtually a rebirth. I Love Ole Ole from start to finish!
Rachid Taha is hitting on all cylinders in Nokta. Baadini - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Album opener Comme un Chien is a bright, upbeat ditty. Boire is the funkiest number on the album. What sets Zavma apart is Rachid Taha’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Tabla Motown is a song to savor, to listen to from every angle. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. I listened to the opening track Jungle Fiction and liked it a lot. In Kelma Rachid Taha spins a tale you want to hear to the end. Non Non Non is astounding. First time I heard Ole Ole was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.
