After seeing Snapper, I had to have a good Red Snapper cd. On Reeled and Skinned album, Red Snapper have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. Jim Jones has compared writing for Red Snapper’s new album to that on ‘Reeled and Skinned’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. If I may, I suggest “Snapper”. That one song is amazing!
One Legged Low Frequency Guy is perfect. Swank is outstanding work of Red Snapper. Although Hot Flush is very melodic it is far from sad. Cortina - is a breath or fresh air compared to many previous songs of Red Snapper. Hot Flush (Sabres Of Paradise Remix) is a striking and quite long song. The sound in In Deep is really warm and Red Snapper’s signature voice is still very much present. Music of Wesley Don’t Surf is gentle, never overbearing. Listening to Lobster you can hear that Red Snapper has still amazing chemistry with band members. Music and lyrics of Son Of Mook creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. The sound of Son Of Mook (Depth Charge Mix) is difficult to describe, as it seems to squirm in a sensual manner, unlike anything ever created. Get Some Sleep Tiger (Plaid Mix) is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track.
