Since completing 1995’s ‘Cotton-Eye Joe’, Rednex fulfilled their contract with Savoy Records and where under no obligation to release another album. ‘Sex and Violins’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by Rednex. This album is awesome.
Hittin’ The Hay is one of the best records ever. Riding Alone the elegant and beautiful song on the album is hard to describe. Wish You Were Here is nothing short of a modern masterpiece. Rednex has astounded me with this amazing track. Old Pop In An Oak has a fun tempo. Nowhere In Idaho is the funkiest number on the album. The Sad But True Story Of Ray as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature. Such hits like Fat Sally Lee will leave you hooked. Shooter is simple, dignified and effective, Rednex refusing to over-emote, and demonstrating that less is more. Lyrics of Mckenzie Brothers are precise and evocative. Rolling Home is one of my favorite songs by Rednex. Wild and Free is perhaps one of the best tracks of the past decade.
