Stanley Donwood has compared writing for Richard Searles’s new album to that on ‘Ancient Isles’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Since completing 1993’s ‘The Storm’, Richard Searles fulfilled their contract with Columbia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. It has been seven years Richard Searles’ last studio CD, “Ancient Isles” which won Array Emmy Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Exciting stuff.
Album opener Lament is a bright, upbeat ditty. The Searcher is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track Richard Searles ever produced. Once you hear Ancient Asles, you will listen to it over and over. The song feels complete. The Coronation is, without a doubt, my favorite song, ever. The Shaman is almost impossible to review. This song stands out greatly from the others. Emerald Dream makes a person feel gorgeous. Sheltering Stones has a fun tempo. Elfin Dance - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody.
