Lead single “The Honker-Duckie-Dinger Jamboree - Ernie/Honkers/A Dinger/Ernie’s Rubber Duckie” and “The Batty Bat - The Count/Ftatateeta/The Bats” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. Sesame Street’s debut, ‘Silly Songs’, does not fit easily into one genre. This sixteen-song debut EP shows the promise that Sesame Street has. This album is in perfect progression from Sesame Street!
From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. I’m Proud To Be A Cow - Gladys The Cow is a very catchy tune. I came to like Everything In The Wrong Place Ball - Oscar/Grundgetta. This Song Is For The Birds - Biff/Stella/Sully is so unique, as each one of the songs is. I love the melodic melody of There’s A Hole In The Bottom Of The Sea - Grover/Oscar/Bob/Susan/The Company and to this day it makes me feel good. Sesame Street is hitting on all cylinders in Captain Vegetable - Captain Vegetable with Eddie and Andy. Keep The Park Clean For The Pigeons - Bert, The Company, with the Singing Pigeons is a song that takes you on the journey before it reaches the conclusion. I like to sing along with Love In The Junkyard - Oscar, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. The Transylvania Polka - The Count great lyrics, dark, deep, angry and cool.Voice of Sesame Street in Oh, Look What Our Baby Can Do! - Humphrey/Ingrid/Natasha is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Sesame Street allows each song to breathe and flourish. The song The Elephant Elevator Operator - The Elephant Elevator Operator ending is my favorite… so catchy! All of songs on Silly Songs and have something to say letting alone The Boogie Woogie Piggies - The Oinker Sisters. Monster In The Mirror - Grover is Sesame Street’s best work in years.
