Houdini isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. This is the first studio album from Simon Ellis since bad diagnosis in 1994. It has been eight years Simon Ellis’ last studio CD, “Houdini” which won Array MTV Music Awards and was nominated for album of the year. Another great offering from Simon Ellis.
Strange sets the tone for the entire album. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. Don’t Know Really (5:24) - Oh, this is one of my favorites! I have all of Simon Ellis’s tracks and Too Late is probably the most his introspective effort. Red Dwarf is a romantic if not formulaic ditty. This is one of those tracks that should not be judged after the first hearing. Aurora is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. In What In The World Is Going On the music gets its power. Iris is so unique, as each one of the songs is. Music and lyrics of Braincloud Feat. Bjork creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming.
