Lead single “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain(1956)” and “When My Blue Moon Turns To Gold Again(1956)” start with near-whispers before kicking into giddily catchy, fuzz box-driven hollered hooks. This is the first studio album from Slim Whitman since bad diagnosis in 1996. On Rose Marie CD 3 album, Slim Whitman have renewed their membership in the ‘if it ain’t broke…’ school of songwriting. If I may, I suggest “Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain(1956)”. That one song is amazing!
It’s so catchy, it’s amazing. That Silver Haired Daddy Of Mine(1956) I just LOVE this mix! This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. The first time I listened to I’ll Never Take You Back Again(1956) I was struck by its astounding sound. Song Of The Wild(1956) is perfect. Lord Protect My Darling(1996) is a catchy, up-tempo track that has influence of music streams without leaning too much in that direction. Cryin’ For The Moon(1956) as a highlight of Rose Marie CD 3 contains a ton of cool melodies. Music and lyrics of Roll On Silvery Moon(1955) creates, for me, fertile ground for daydreaming. When I listen to Haunted Hungry Heart(1955) in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. Slim Whitman has created something that grabs you by the heart and gets you moving. Slim Whitman rocks harder than ever with At The End Of Nowhere(1956). Simple and heartfelt closing track I’ll Never Stop Loving You(1956) closes Rose Marie CD 3 on a high note. Voice of Slim Whitman in Song Of The Wild(1956) is honest and guitar work is subtle and poignant. Tumbling Tumbleweeds(1956) is a gorgeous song and it grows on you. Tell Me(1956) is a song to enjoy for years to come. I’ll Take You Home Again, Kathleen(1996) is a exquisite sing-along. I’m A Fool(1956) is a very catchy tune. I find myself hearing bits of Serenade(1956) here and there throughout my waking hours. This track is just a stunning masterpiece. What sets Brahms’ Lullaby(1960) apart is Slim Whitman’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. This track is a fabulous selection of easy listening, suitable for any age, taste or occasion. It is succeeded by an outstanding track, however: Dear Mary(1956), which shows, blatantly, how much Slim Whitman has evolved as a singer. Opening track I’ll Take You Home Again, Kathleen(1958) shows the best of Slim Whitman. Dear Mary(1996) - This happy song is an ode to optimism and an anthem. Cryin’ For The Moon(1961) - another great track from the Rose Marie CD 3 album. The Whiffenpoof Song(1956) is one of my favorite songs by Slim Whitman. Slim Whitman sings his heart out in Curtain Of Tears(1957).
