After debuting at No. 1 last week, Sly and the Family Stone’s album Stand! falls to No. 2 with 848,000, a sales slide of 99%. This is the first studio album from Sly and the Family Stone since bad diagnosis in 1993. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Sly and the Family Stone energies, virtually a rebirth. It is very deep stuff - very exciting
Don’t Call Me Nigger, Whitey is almost impossible to review. I can’t stop playing I Want to Take You Higher. This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. I listened to the opening track Sing a Simple Song and liked it a lot. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Stand!. Sly and the Family Stone offers the kind of music here that makes you reflect on yourself. You Can Make It If You Try is a medium tempo tune.
