There is so much to love about Sol Invictus, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. I am not a real Gothic music type of person, but i have to admit ‘In The Rain’ really is amazing. Self-described as Gothic with lots of words, Sol Invictus comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Overall, I would highly recommend In The Rain CD.
This song has very few things relative to that of it’s predecessor. Only one song from In The Rain named Believe Me really got me. Down The Years is maybe the best thing the group’s ever done. In The Rain - Okay, I just talked about depth. Fall Like Rain - This one has a powerful beat and a good melody. Oh What Fun gives taste of what makes Sol Invictus special as a musician. One listen to the sheer beauty of An English Garden was all I needed. What sets The World Shrugged apart is Sol Invictus’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. In Days To Come without a doubt is the standout song of In The Rain. Europa In The Rain (Part 2) - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody.
