It’s natural for Sonic Youth to take a stab at ‘Youth Against Fascism’ considering her long-professed love for UB40. This album has some very good songs like Youth Against Fascism and 100%. There is so much to love about Sonic Youth, starting with incredible harmonies, songwriting chops and stellar stage presence. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
100% is the more seemingly obscure song on Listen! that bear up best to repeated listening. Opening track Theresa’s Sound-World shows the best of Sonic Youth. I now have Sugar Kane as one of my personal favorites. I’ve found myself listening to Swimsuit Issue back to back and back many times. I listened to the opening track Kool Thing and liked it a lot. Tom Violence - A strong beat. Schizophrenia is a song you cannot help but think about at odd moments in your day. This is one hell of a track. As always, Sonic Youth’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again.
