Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows’s debut, ‘Todeswunsch’, does not fit easily into one genre. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows energies, virtually a rebirth. Self-described as Gothic with lots of words, Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Check it every song is worth the money for the Todeswunsch CD!
In Die Bruderschaft Des Schmerzes full palet of sound is used by Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows to accentuate the presentation. Shadowsphere I is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Shadowsphere II one is one of the better boring ones. Saltatio Crudelitatis - To me, this is the best song on the Todeswunsch. This is probably my favorite song on the album. Soror (Sister Of Selfdestruction) one of the best in my collection. This is the kind of song I think of when I think of Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows has astounded me with this amazing track. Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows must have run out of lyrics on the next track Drama Der Geschlechtslosigkeit I. Freitod-Phantasien is astounding. Drama Der Geschlechtslosigkeit II is a bit different from Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows stereotypical stuff. Saturn-Impressionen is one of my favorite songs by Sopor Aeternus and The Ensemble Of Shadows. This track is almost perfect, instrumentals and vocals combine awesomely. Not Dead But Dying still maintains something of a specific flourish. Only The Dead In The Mist is really a nice song to relax and listen too. This Profane Finality is one of the more up-tempo songs on Todeswunsch. Cage Within A Cage sets the tone for the entire album.
