Jim Jones has compared writing for Stan Getz’s new album to that on ‘This Is Jazz (Vol. 14)’ - but has declared the lyrics will be even more terrifying. Since completing 1996’s ‘Fiesta’, Stan Getz fulfilled their contract with EMI Records and where under no obligation to release another album. I am not a real Jazz music type of person, but i have to admit ‘This Is Jazz (Vol. 14)’ really is amazing. This is my first Stan Getz Album and i must say i am blown away.
Who Cares? is nothing but pure genius. Once you hear Ligia, you will listen to it over and over. Misty is probably one of Stan Getz’s biggest successes for the album - it’s lovely to listen to. uas de Mar(Waters of March) is a very catchy tune. I’ve found myself listening to Lester Left Town back to back and back many times. Other tracks are good but your best bet is to stick with Blue Serge. Album opener Captain Marvel is a bright, upbeat ditty. The first time I listened to Peacocks I was struck by its gorgeous sound.
