Steve Coleman and Five Elements had quite a long carriere and they made many hits. ‘Def Trance Beat (Modalities of Rhythm)’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of Steve Coleman and Five Elements energies, virtually a rebirth. Smart music for smart people.
Flint - My least favorite song on this album. The song feels complete. Multiplicity Of Approaches is one of the coolest songs Steve Coleman and Five Elements has ever recorded. Pad Thai is beautiful, yet underrated track. What sets Patterns Of Force apart is Steve Coleman and Five Elements’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Salt Peanuts is really the reason why I recommend buying Def Trance Beat (Modalities of Rhythm). The Khu is a song that definitely grows on you and becomes an album favorite. Some call The Mantra from Def Trance Beat (Modalities of Rhythm) as a quiet invitation of an artist to sit and listen. Verifiable Pedagogy is marvelous and different song.
