Pure Anus isn’t so much a record, as a great effort at dragging you into another world. ‘Pure Anus’ kicks the album off with a blast of pure pop energy. Self-described as Alternative with lots of words, Sublime comes out swinging on perhaps his best album to date. Superstar Punani and Crazy Fool is really good.
This track is clearly meant to showcase Sublime’s vocal abilities. New Realization gives taste of what makes Sublime special as a musician. Best song on the album, love it. Battle Bradley (Dub) is a nice, innocuous song, and much better than anything Sublime released so far. Vocal harmonies in this track are great and song structure is just right. Wrong Way (Demo) hits the heart. Sublime has astounded me with this amazing track. I Love My Dog is really a nice song to relax and listen too. Loveline Session 2 I just LOVE this mix! April 29th, 1992 marked the continuation of Sublime in style evolution. What I Got (Dub) has a gorgeous instrumental sound, which lets Sublime’s strong vocals come to the fore. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly. |titile| is quite refreshing and sets the tone for what is going on in Pure Anus. Ain’t No Prophet gives good insight into the truths. Blew our minds when we first heard What’s Really Going Wrong. Little District - My least favorite song on this album. Only one song from Pure Anus named ‘89 Vision (Dub) really got me. Doin’ Time is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. Legalize It one is one of the better boring ones. Hong Kong Phooey is one of the more up-tempo songs on Pure Anus. I can’t stop playing Lou Makes Friends. Z-Man’s 40oz. / Robbin’ The Hood Commercial is probably the highlight of the album.
