While no new Sun Ra album is in sight, the artist has been road testing new songs during 1993 tour in Asia. When you buy a Sun Ra album, you know exactly what you’re getting! Since completing 1993’s ‘Bassism’, Sun Ra fulfilled their contract with ForeFront Records and where under no obligation to release another album. IT makes me wanna dance!
As always, Sun Ra’s lyrics are worth listening to again and again. I like What’s That? because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Where Is Tomorrow? is a bit different from Sun Ra stereotypical stuff. The Beginning is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. In China Gates the music gets its power. A great put together song. Sun Ra sings his heart out in Tapestry From An Asteroid. This song stands out greatly from the others. After few listenings I started to like Looking Outward more and more. First time I heard Space Jazz Reverie was on radio driving in my car and sonically it just sounded amazing.
