Now signed to The Band’s Columbia Records, the title track from second album “Across the Great Divide (CD2)” leads The Band’s back-to-school campaign. I am not a real Country music type of person, but i have to admit ‘Across the Great Divide (CD2)’ really is amazing. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of The Band energies, virtually a rebirth. One of The Band’s best albums yet.
What sets The Moon Struck One apart is The Band’s innovative and organic way of creating atmospheres. Life Is A Carnival - Okay, I just talked about depth. The River Hymn is an incredible song that has everything it needs to be another favorite track. Don’t Do It have really caught my ear and imagination. Caldonia Mission is possibly the best song The Band has come up. The W.S. Walcott Medicine Show is astounding song though, very addictive. Listening to Get Up Jake you can hear that The Band has still amazing chemistry with band members. This Wheel’s On Fire makes a person feel perfect. Share Your Love With Me is a great song for a cosy night in when it’s cold and wintry outside. Mystery Train is one of those songs that will put you in a good mood. No The Band song has come close to capturing my attention as Acadian Driftwood did. Ophelia is a strong cut, one of many. It Makes No Difference one is one of the better boring ones. The sound in Livin’ In A Dream is really warm and The Band’s signature voice is still very much present. This track is possibly the biggest guilty pleasure on Across the Great Divide (CD2). Right As Rain as well as many of songs is a short story in miniature.
