Since completing 1994’s ‘Chestnut Mare’, The Byrds fulfilled their contract with Columbia Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This compilation contains all of the biggest hits by The Byrds. For older fans Final Approach will put a massive smile accross your face. To me The Byrds is the best band ever.
In Just A Season you won’t find any flashy solos. Charming song, great melody. Truck Stop Girl is new, fresh, and hypnotizing. Just Like A Woman is a medium tempo tune. Stanley’s Song pretty much defines how I feel spiritually. I can’t stop playing Glory, Glory. I can’t stop humming along I Trust. I Wanna Grow Up To Be A Politician good vocals. From the moment you listen to Green Apple Quick Step you’re hooked. I like the agression and power of Tiffany Queen. Bugler is pretty funky and mellow. Lazy Waters is one of the best records ever. When I listen to Farther Along in my car when traffic ain’t going so good. The opening track White’s Lightning is very much like you would expect from other albums. From the sound of it, I believe the song can be a big radio hit. Mr. Tambourine Man to me is the best you can get from The Byrds. He Was A Friend Of Mine can be hardly overrated by any means; this is what The Byrds is all about. Paths Of Victory which is my favorite is a truly The Byrds sounding song. From A Distance is possibly the most mysterious and inexplicable track The Byrds ever produced. This track is a killer, it just grabs you instantly.
