This is one of the best Cd’s The Dillards has dropped to date. There is no doubt that The Dillards has talent. Now signed to The Dillards’s Sparrow Records, the title track from second album “Tribute to the American Duck/Roots and Branches” leads The Dillards’s back-to-school campaign. Smart music for smart people.
Forget Me Not is astounding. One A M is really the reason why I recommend buying Tribute to the American Duck/Roots and Branches. Overall a nice softer song. Simple and heartfelt closing track Get Out On The Road closes Tribute to the American Duck/Roots and Branches on a high note. In Big Bayou the light shines equally on lyrics, vocals and instrumentation. I like to sing along with I’ve Been Hurt, though I mess up the lyrics sometimes. The Dillards - Roots And Branches - Billy Jack motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Only one song from Tribute to the American Duck/Roots and Branches named Sunny Day really got me. Man Of Constant Sorrow gives taste of what makes The Dillards special as a musician. |titile| is the kind of record that makes you remember why music can be so addictive. Still going through Tribute to the American Duck/Roots and Branches and coming to appreciate Caney Creek more and more with every listen. Dooley has a beautifully haunting disco flavor. The Dillards is hitting on all cylinders in Love Has Gone Away. You’ve Got To Be Strong is the most memorable and excellent. The Dillards has astounded me with this amazing track. Smile For Me is a very good song maybe surprisingly better than you at first might’ve imagined. |titile| is a sure sign of something most of us are experiencing, maturity. Daddy Was A Mover - isn’t quite as powerful vocally, but has a beautiful melody. What’s Time To A Hog - The Dillards first major hit.
